Why this guide?

When writing a scientific paper, you must anticipate what a potential reader might be looking for when reading the document. Your document is complex and contains technical notions often foreign to the reader. You must help the reader by communicating your ideas in the clearest manner possible.
To reach this goal, you must:

  • Organize your content such that it is clear and consistent. Each idea must be expressed in a precise manner and must be introduced in the right place. It is essential that the ideas form an easy to follow narrative flow.
  • Express your ideas using appropriate style while observing the grammatical rules of the language you are using (typically, English). If English is not your first language, this may be difficult. A misplaced word or punctuation mark can radically change the meaning of a sentence and confuse your reader.
